Help Build Your Downtown Community

‘Motu Viget’ is a Latin phrase meaning ‘strength through activity’, which is the City of Grand Rapids’ motto. In this spirit, the community welcomes and rewards people who take an active role in improving the City. There are many ways to get involved, participate purposefully and make your neighborhood better.

Neighbors have a real opportunity to make positive changes in Grand Rapids. Getting involved also provides an opportunity to meet your neighbors, make social and professional connections, acquire new skills and help solve problems or seize opportunities for you and your community.

In 2024, Downtown Neighbors are focusing on three primary areas to improve the Downtown living experience. Learn more below and sign up to play a role!

Step Up Your Involvement

Mobility

We’re advocating, educating and activating neighbors to be a part of solutions for safer streets for pedestrians and cyclists.

Gateways

Downtown residents know that our neighborhood is a gem. Be a part of activating neighborhood spaces to gather and connect.

Community Garden

Are you ready to go green in your Downtown residence? We’re growing a Downtown Community Garden!

Safety

Neighborhood safety is in your hands! Participate in the DNN safety block audit. Share what you see as you walk around town.
