The neighborhood is growing! A number of retail and restaurant businesses are opening just in time for summer.

Did you know that new businesses opened at a rate of 2x the number of businesses that closed in 2021? It looks like the trend continues in 2022!

🦁&🦅 Courage & Soar: Lifestyle & home goods 

  • Familiar faces from Oh, Hello, this new shop will be located right next door to their current space.  
  • Features: hands-on workshop experiences for artists and Certified Tourism Ambassador staff.
  • Location: 40 Monroe Center St. NW. 

👟 Gazelle Sports 

  • A local favorite for running gear and expertise that you no longer have to drive to! 
  • Features: selection of activewear as well as some “takeovers” meant to highlight specific brands, running groups, workshops and community events.
  • Join Gazelle Sports every Thursday night for a community run/walk!
  • Location: 52 Monroe Center St. NW. 

🌯 Taste of Cairo:    

  • Taste of Cairo brings Egypt to you! Street food meant to satisfy while stopping in on a walk.
  • Features: authentic Egyptian cuisine such as vegan and vegetarian favorites like koshery (or koshari).
  • Location: 125 Ottawa Ave. in the Ledyard Building.  

🍤 Real Seafood Co.

  • Offering premium fresh seafood straight from the waters of New England. 
  • Features: a familiar outpost for seafood.
  • Location: corner of Lyon and Monroe, 141 Lyon St. NW.

🍵 Monsoon Vietnamese Restaurant

  • Monsoon will bring the Vietnamese dining experience to the neighborhood! 
  • Features: more than pho and bahn mi… looking to feature the depth of Vietnamese cuisine with indoor and outdoor dining opportunities.  
  • Location: 55 Monroe Center St. NW.

Le Macaron:  

  • A new stop for a sweet treat in the neighborhood! 
  • Features: French patisseries, an array of macarons and catering services. 
  • Location: 132 Monroe Center St. NW, directly across Monroe Center from Rosa Parks Circle.

🌮 Barrio Tacos: 

  • Barrio brings the party to you with an artistic atmosphere. 
  • Features: tacos, tequila and marvelous murals coving the walls.

  • MMC is Downtown’s newest movement space focused on inclusivity.
